Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. —Proverbs 22:6

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. —1 Peter 2:9

We all have dreams of becoming something amazing—maybe it’s a doctor, an artist, a YouTuber, or a star athlete. But when it comes to who we really are becoming, God’s Word points us in a much deeper direction. Proverbs 22:6 is often quoted to parents, but it’s also a challenge to us—to stay on the right path once we've been shown it.
Then 1 Peter 1–2 picks up that thought and tells us exactly what that path looks like: it’s a holy, set-apart life, full of purpose and light. That may sound intense, but it’s actually incredibly freeing. Instead of blending in or getting lost trying to find yourself, God gives you an identity that’s solid and full of meaning.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Set on the Path: What are some ways you've been trained or taught to follow Jesus? Are there habits or truths from your childhood that still shape you today?
2. Be Different on Purpose: Peter challenges us not to copy the world but to live holy lives. What’s one way you can choose holiness instead of going along with what everyone else is doing?
3. You Belong: Do you see yourself the way God sees you—a chosen, royal, and holy part of His family? How might this identity affect the way you live, speak, or make decisions this week?

BOTTOM LINE
God has set you on a path for a reason. When you remember who you are in Him, you can live with confidence, purpose, and holiness—no matter what distractions come your way.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me into Your light and giving me a purpose that lasts. Help me to walk in the way You’ve trained me, to choose holiness even when it’s hard, and to always remember that I belong to You. Strengthen me to stay on track and shine for You in everything I do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
