Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. — Proverbs 22:9

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness… — 2 Peter 1:3

But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. — 2 Peter 3:13

You know that feeling when someone shares their favorite snack with you? It’s simple, but it matters—especially when they didn’t have to. In Proverbs 22:9, the Bible calls this kind of person “bountiful” or generous, someone who looks for chances to bless others.

Now, skip forward to 2 Peter 1–3, where we see how God has already poured out everything we need to live for Him. Not only that, but He's given us a future hope—something solid to live for beyond this life. So here’s the connection: when we realize how much we’ve been given by God, it becomes easier (and more exciting!) to live generously and with purpose, right now.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Check Your Vision: Do you have a “bountiful eye”? That means looking for ways to give—your time, your attention, your stuff—to others who need it. Sometimes the biggest blessings come from the smallest acts.

2. Power Source: According to 2 Peter 1:3, God has already given you everything you need to live for Him. Are you trying to handle life on your own, or are you tapping into what He’s already made available?

3. Future-Focused Living: In 2 Peter 3:13, Peter talks about the “new heavens and new earth.” How does knowing that something better is coming shape how you live today? Are you living with eternity in mind?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for being so generous with me. You've given me everything I need to follow You and live a godly life. Help me to see others with a generous heart and to give freely, just like You do. Keep my eyes focused on the hope You’ve promised and help me live like it really matters. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
