“If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” — 1 John 1:6-7

Have you ever noticed how much better things feel when you walk in the light? Not just physically, but spiritually too. 1 John 1:6-7 tells us that when we choose to walk in the light with God, things change for the better—our relationships improve, and we experience true fellowship with others. In contrast, when we walk in darkness, our hearts get clouded, and conflict becomes harder to avoid.
Proverbs 22:10 shows us that when we push away negativity and people who stir up strife, peace has room to grow. In Psalm 98, we see a beautiful picture of how God has done marvelous things through His salvation. He calls us to sing a new song because of the marvelous work He’s done in our lives. When we recognize how much God has already done for us, it makes it easier to walk in His light and share His love with others.
Living in God’s light doesn’t just mean knowing what’s right. It means choosing to live it out every day, especially when it’s hard. That’s what walking in fellowship with Jesus looks like—choosing His way over our own.

1. What’s in your heart? Are there any areas in your life where you're walking in darkness or keeping things hidden from God?
2. How can you bring light to others? How can you use God’s love to bring peace and healing to a situation where there’s strife or conflict?
3. New songs, new life: What are some ways you can respond to God’s marvelous works in your life with a “new song”? How can you celebrate His goodness daily?

BOTTOM LINE
Walking in the light with God brings peace, fellowship, and freedom. It’s a choice we make every day to live out His love and truth.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to cleanse us from all sin and for the light that You offer us. Help us to walk in that light, bringing peace to our hearts and to those around us. Teach us to reflect Your love in all we do, and guide us when we face conflict or struggle. May we live in Your freedom, sharing Your marvelous works with the world. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
