“Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate, for the Lord will plead their cause and rob of life those who rob them.” — Proverbs 22:22-23

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.” — Jude 1:20-21

In a world where opinions and voices seem to constantly compete for attention, it can be tough to know where to stand. People push their ideas on us all the time—at school, on social media, and even among our friends. In Proverbs 22:22-23, God reminds us of a powerful truth: He sees and defends those who are oppressed and vulnerable. If we are to follow Him, we must care for the poor and not take advantage of others, especially when it’s easier to do so. It’s a call to stand up for what’s right and just, even when it might not be popular.

In Jude 1, we see a different kind of call: to keep ourselves firm in God’s truth and love. Jude encourages believers to build their faith, stay rooted in prayer, and guard their hearts against false teachings. He reminds us that, while there are challenges and trials, God's mercy will lead us to eternal life. This is a call to stay firm in our faith, no matter how difficult the world around us might get.

As you face daily pressures—whether from friends, school, or your own internal struggles—remember that God is calling you to live with integrity. When you choose to protect the vulnerable and remain grounded in His truth, you are actively reflecting His character. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. By standing firm in His love, you’ll be empowered to face whatever challenges come your way, knowing that God is always on your side.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. What does it mean to stand up for those who are vulnerable? How can you take action to help those in need, whether at school or in your community?

2. How can you build your faith today? Are you making time for prayer or reflecting on God’s word? What’s one way you can stay strong in His love?
