AUGUST 6 - Peace in the Chaos
3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 21:9–10; Psalm 90; 1 Timothy 5–6

“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife. The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.” — Proverbs 21:9–10
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12
“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.” — 1 Timothy 6:6–7

Have you ever been around someone who argues just to argue, constantly stirring up drama or making life feel like a battle zone? Whether it’s at school, at home, or even in group chats, conflict can wear us down. Proverbs 21 reminds us that peace—even if it means having less or being alone for a while—is better than constant conflict. Psalm 90 zooms out and shows us how short life really is. It encourages us to live wisely, to value our time, and not get caught up in things that don’t really matter.
And then 1 Timothy 6 drops this truth bomb: real gain comes not from having more stuff, popularity, or winning arguments, but from godliness and being content with what God has already given us.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Do you bring peace or drama? When things get tense, do your words and actions calm things down or add fuel to the fire?
2. How are you using your time? Life is short—what are you spending most of your time thinking about, doing, or chasing after? Does it reflect wisdom?
3. What does contentment look like for you? Are you constantly comparing your life to others? Or are you learning to be thankful and joyful in what God’s already given you?

BOTTOM LINE
Living a wise, peaceful, and content life is better than chasing approval, winning arguments, or having it all. Focus on growing in godliness, using your time well, and being a source of peace wherever you go.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, Help me to be someone who brings peace, not chaos. Teach me to number my days and live with wisdom. Keep my heart content and focused on You instead of what the world says I need. Help me to grow in godliness and to value what truly matters. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
