“When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.” — Proverbs 10:19 (ESV)

“For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.” — Psalm 18:29 (ESV)

“And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, ‘Get up quickly.’ And the chains fell off his hands.” — Acts 12:7 (ESV)

Have you ever felt stuck—like your words got you in trouble, your circumstances boxed you in, or life just weighed you down? Proverbs 10:19 reminds us that careless words can trip us up, while Psalm 18:29 shows us that with God, even walls and obstacles can be overcome. And in Acts 12:7, Peter’s prison chains literally fell off because God stepped in. These passages connect in a powerful way: God doesn’t just want to protect us from the messes we make with our mouths or the struggles around us—He wants to set us free and give us strength to keep moving forward.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Watch Your Words: How can being mindful of what you say (Proverbs 10:19) keep you from unnecessary drama or conflict this week?

2. Over Walls with God: What’s a “wall” in your life right now—fear, insecurity, temptation? How does Psalm 18:29 give you hope that God can help you overcome it?

3. God Breaks Chains: Peter’s chains fell off in Acts 12:7. What’s something that feels like a “chain” in your life, and how can you trust God to bring freedom?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are bigger than my problems, stronger than my struggles, and faithful in every situation. Help me to use my words wisely, trust You to help me leap over the walls in my life, and believe that You can break every chain that holds me down. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
