FEBRUARY 15 - Choose Your Fun Wisely
3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 10:23, 26; Acts 15

“Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.” — Proverbs 10:23
“Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.” — Proverbs 10:26
“It has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements.” — Acts 15:28

Let’s be honest—some things that seem fun in the moment can leave you with serious regret later. Proverbs warns us that fools treat sin like a joke (Proverbs 10:23), and that being lazy or careless affects more than just you—it impacts the people who count on you (Proverbs 10:26).
In Acts 15, we see how early church leaders made careful decisions, guided by the Holy Spirit, to help people follow Jesus without adding unnecessary burdens. They weren’t careless; they were thoughtful, wise, and intentional. That’s a big contrast to how many people approach life—living for laughs without thinking long-term.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. What’s your definition of fun? Are the things you enjoy building you up or pulling you away from God’s best? Proverbs warns that making light of sin is foolish, even if it seems fun in the moment.
2. How do your actions affect others? Proverbs 10:26 compares a lazy person to vinegar on teeth—basically annoying and painful. Are you someone others can count on?
3. Seek God’s guidance: The church in Acts 15 didn’t make decisions based on pressure or popular opinion. They prayed, listened, and followed the Holy Spirit’s lead. What would it look like for you to do the same?

BOTTOM LINE
Fun isn’t bad—but fun that dishonors God or hurts others isn’t worth it. Choose wisdom, live intentionally, and let the Holy Spirit guide your decisions.
