“A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.” — Proverbs 11:1

“And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled.” — Acts 19:17

We’ve all been tempted to cut corners—maybe copying a friend’s homework or saying “just a little lie” to get out of trouble. But in Proverbs 11:1, God makes it clear: dishonesty isn’t just “not great”—it’s an abomination. That’s a strong word!

In Acts 19, we see what happens when people encounter the real power of Jesus. They’re so impacted that they confess their wrongdoing and even burn the stuff they used for magic—worth tons of money! That’s some serious life change. When people really meet Jesus, honesty and integrity aren’t optional—they’re evidence that something real has happened in their hearts.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. God Cares About Integrity: Proverbs 11:1 reminds us that our character matters to God, even in the small stuff. Are you being honest in school, friendships, and online?

2. Power of Real Change: In Acts 19, people were so transformed by Jesus that they got rid of anything that didn’t honor Him. What might God be asking you to let go of so you can live more honestly?

3. What Are You Known For? The people in Ephesus were gripped with respect for Jesus because of the way His followers lived. If people looked at your life, would they see Jesus in how you speak and act?

BOTTOM LINE

God delights in honesty. When we live with integrity, especially when it’s hard, we reflect the character of Jesus and show the world what He’s really like.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me to be honest in every part of my life—even when no one is watching. Teach me to value what You value and give me the courage to make things right when I mess up. Let my life be a reflection of Your truth and love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
