“A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” — Proverbs 10:1 (ESV)

“And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, ‘you heard from me.’” — Acts 1:4 (ESV)

“And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.” — Acts 1:9 (ESV)

Have you ever felt the pressure of choices—like one small decision can either make things better or blow things up? Proverbs says a wise son makes his parents glad, but foolishness brings sorrow (Proverbs 10:1). That’s not just about family—it’s about influence. The disciples in Acts 1 were about to make choices too. Jesus told them to wait for God’s promise, even though they probably wanted to rush ahead. Then, in a moment that must have stunned them, He ascended right before their eyes (Acts 1:9). Imagine the mix of fear, wonder, and responsibility they felt. Just like them, your choices today—whether to be wise or foolish, to wait on God or rush ahead—shape the kind of impact you leave on others.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Wisdom vs. Foolishness: What’s one choice you’ve made recently that showed wisdom? What about one that showed foolishness? How did it affect the people around you?

2. Wait on God: Why do you think Jesus told His disciples to wait for the Father’s promise instead of acting right away? What might God be asking you to wait on right now?

3. Eyes on Eternity: The disciples watched Jesus ascend into heaven. How can remembering that Jesus is alive and reigning change how you live today?

BOTTOM LINE

Every choice matters—choose wisdom, wait on God, and live with eternity in mind.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that my choices carry weight. Help me to walk in wisdom that honors You and blesses those around me. Teach me to wait on Your timing instead of rushing ahead, and keep my heart focused on Jesus, who reigns forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
