“A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” — Proverbs 10:1

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” — Acts 1:8

Sometimes it feels like being a teenager means standing at a thousand crossroads every day. Do I speak up or stay quiet? Do I follow the crowd or stand alone? Do I scroll another hour or open my Bible instead? In Proverbs 10:1, we’re reminded that our choices matter—wise choices bring joy, but foolish ones hurt the people who care about us most.

Meanwhile, Acts 1 introduces us to a moment right before Jesus goes back to heaven. He tells His followers that the Holy Spirit is coming to give them power—not for popularity or comfort, but so they can be bold and live out their faith wherever they go. Wisdom and boldness go hand-in-hand, especially when you're trying to follow Jesus in a world full of distractions and pressure.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Wise Choices Matter: Are there areas in your life where you’ve seen how your choices affect others—especially your parents or friends? What does it mean to be “wise” in those moments?

2. Holy Spirit Power: Jesus promised His followers they would receive power. That same Spirit lives in you today if you follow Him. How can knowing this help you be more confident in living out your faith?

3. Your Mission Starts Now: You don’t have to wait to be older to make a difference. Jesus didn’t say to wait until everything’s perfect—He said go. What’s one way you can be a witness for Jesus at school, in your friend group, or online?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me to choose wisdom even when it’s hard or unpopular. Thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen me. Teach me to be bold in my faith and to live in a way that brings You joy. Use my life to reflect Your love and truth to those around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
