Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. —Proverbs 3:7–8
But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. —Psalm 4:3
And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him. —Matthew 3:16

Have you ever felt like you had to figure everything out on your own? Maybe you're trying to plan your future, handle pressure from school or family, or just make sense of who you are. The world constantly tells us to “trust ourselves,” but God calls us to something deeper: trust Him instead. Proverbs reminds us not to be “wise in our own eyes,” but to fear God and walk away from evil. That kind of humility brings real healing and peace—not just on the outside, but deep in your soul.
In Psalm 4, David expresses a quiet confidence that God sets apart those who follow Him. You don’t have to chase attention, approval, or answers from the world. When you call on Him, He hears you.
Then in Matthew 3, Jesus—perfect and sinless—gets baptized. Why? Because He was showing us how to humbly obey God. The moment He came out of the water, heaven opened, the Spirit came down, and God publicly confirmed, “This is my Son.” Choosing God’s way—even when it’s not flashy or popular—leads to powerful encounters with Him.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Whose Wisdom Are You Following? Are you relying more on your own opinions and feelings—or God's truth through Scripture?
2. God Hears You: Do you believe that when you pray, God actually listens and responds? How does knowing He’s set you apart impact your confidence?
3. Follow Jesus’ Lead: Jesus didn’t need to be baptized, but He did it to model obedience. What’s one step of obedience you can take this week, even if it doesn’t “make sense” to others?

BOTTOM LINE
God’s way may not always seem easy, but it leads to true peace, healing, and purpose.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me not to lean on my own understanding, but to trust You fully. Teach me to fear You, walk away from evil, and follow Your voice in every decision. Thank You that I’m set apart and heard by You. Like Jesus, I want to choose obedience, no matter what others think. Make my heart soft to Your leading. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
