“Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.” — Proverbs 3:7–8

“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” — Matthew 3:2

Sometimes, we like to think we’ve got life figured out—especially when things seem to be going well. But the Bible reminds us that being “wise in your own eyes” isn’t real wisdom at all (Proverbs 3:7). True wisdom starts with fearing the Lord and turning away from sin. That might not sound exciting, but when we live that way, it actually brings peace, healing, and rest—exactly what our souls need.

Whether we’re dealing with stress from school, friendships, or trying to figure out who we are, God’s Word gives us a better way. And in Matthew 3, John the Baptist reminds us to turn our lives around—because God’s kingdom isn’t just some far-off idea. It’s here. It’s now. And we get to be part of it.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Who’s Really in Control? When you face tough decisions, do you rely more on your own thoughts or God’s guidance? Proverbs tells us not to lean on our own understanding, but to fear the Lord instead.

2. Finding Real Peace: Psalm 4 shows us that true peace doesn’t come from having everything figured out—it comes from trusting that God is keeping us safe, even when life feels uncertain.

3. Time to Turn Around? John’s call to repent isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being real. Are there areas in your life where you need to turn back to God and let Him lead?

BOTTOM LINE

Wisdom isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting God enough to follow His. When we let Him guide our lives, we find peace, healing, and purpose.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of true wisdom and peace. Help me not to rely on myself, but to trust You in everything I face. Show me where I need to turn back to You, and give me the courage to follow Your ways. Fill me with Your peace, and remind me that I’m never alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
