“He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who brings shame and reproach. Cease to hear instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.” —Proverbs 19:26–27
“Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!” —Psalm 80:7
“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” —Luke 12:40

Ever get annoyed when someone tries to tell you what to do? Maybe it’s a parent, teacher, or even a friend. In the moment, it feels easier to tune them out and just do your own thing. But Proverbs 19 warns us that shutting out wisdom can lead us down a path we really don’t want to walk. Psalm 80 reminds us that when we drift, we can always ask God to restore us.
And in Luke 12, Jesus calls us to be ready—to live each day with our hearts aligned to Him. The truth is, how we respond to instruction and how we live each day shows what we really believe.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Check Your Attitude: Are you open to correction and guidance, or do you automatically resist it? Learning to receive instruction is a sign of maturity and wisdom.
2. Be Ready, Always: Jesus could return at any time. What would it look like for you to live today like He’s coming back tomorrow?
3. Seek Restoration: If you’ve been walking your own way, Psalm 80 is a prayer you can make your own: “Restore me, God. Let Your face shine on me.”

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me to have a heart that listens and a life that’s ready for You. Forgive me for the times I’ve pushed away truth or ignored Your voice. Shine Your face on me and lead me in the way I should go. I want to walk in Your light every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
