“It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.” — Proverbs 20:3
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father...’” — Luke 15:17–18

Ever had an argument that started over something small, but suddenly you're in a full-blown battle with someone—maybe a sibling, a friend, or even your parents? It's easy to feel like you have to prove you're right, especially when emotions are running high. But Proverbs 20:3 reminds us that real strength and honor come from walking away from fights, not diving into them.
And in Luke 15, Jesus tells a story about a younger son who made a huge mess of his life but chose to go back home with humility instead of pride. That choice—swallowing his pride and returning to his father—changed everything.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Peace Over Pride: Why do we sometimes feel like we have to win an argument? How can choosing peace actually make you stronger and more respected?
2. Coming to Your Senses: The younger son had a turning point—he “came to himself.” What does that look like in your life when you realize you’re wrong or heading down a bad path?
3. God Welcomes You Back: No matter how far we’ve messed up or how heated things get, God is ready to welcome us with open arms. How does that change the way you respond when you’ve blown it?

BOTTOM LINE
You don’t have to win every fight. Choosing peace and humility reflects strength and opens the door for healing, restoration, and a better path forward with God and others.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me to choose peace over pride. Teach me to walk away from arguments that don’t honor You and give me the humility to admit when I’m wrong. Thank You for always being ready to forgive and welcome me back when I mess up. Help me show that same grace to others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
