In Proverbs 18:13, we’re warned about jumping to conclusions. Have you ever given an answer before truly listening to someone? It’s easy to speak without fully understanding, but this often leads to mistakes and misunderstandings. The verse reminds us that true wisdom comes from listening carefully before responding.
In Exodus 29, God is giving detailed instructions to Moses about the consecration of the priests. These priests were to be made holy, set apart for God’s work. This process involved offering sacrifices and following specific rituals. The priests were not just to look holy; they were to be holy, with their hearts dedicated to serving God. The consecration wasn’t just about appearances—it was about a true transformation, inside and out.
Just like the priests, we are called to be set apart for God. Our actions, but more importantly, our hearts, need to reflect His holiness. We don’t want to just look good on the outside—we want our words and actions to flow from a heart that listens to God and seeks to honor Him.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Listen First: Have you ever given a quick response without fully understanding what was said? How can taking a moment to truly listen change the way you communicate?
2. Holiness from the Inside Out: The priests were set apart for God, not just in their actions but in their hearts. How can you make sure that your heart is set apart for God, not just your behavior?
3. God Sees the Heart: God cares more about the condition of our hearts than our outward appearances. How can you focus on honoring God from the inside out today?

BOTTOM LINE
Listening carefully and focusing on the condition of our hearts are key to truly honoring God. It’s not just about what we say or do, but about who we are on the inside.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that words matter, but the state of my heart matters even more. Help me to listen carefully and respond wisely. Make me holy, inside and out, so that I can truly honor You in everything I do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
