“And Moses said to the Lord, ‘See, You say to me, “Bring up this people,” but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, “I know you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.”’” — Exodus 33:12

“The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.’” — Exodus 34:5-6

In Proverbs 18:22, we read that finding a good partner is a blessing, one that comes with favor from the Lord. It’s not just about having someone by your side; it’s about finding someone who brings out the best in you and who encourages you to grow closer to God. This is a key reminder that relationships—whether friendships, family, or romantic—should be centered around mutual respect and God’s love. A good partner isn’t just about personality or looks; it’s about God’s favor shining through them and making your life better.

In Exodus 33, Moses is having a conversation with God, feeling unsure about the mission ahead of him. He needs help, but God assures him that He knows Moses by name and has shown him favor. Moses is seeking reassurance that God’s presence will be with him as he leads Israel, and God responds with a promise of His companionship and guidance. Moses learns that God’s presence is the true source of power and success, and this truth applies to us as well. No matter what we face in life, God’s presence is our ultimate blessing and the key to overcoming obstacles.

In Exodus 34, God reveals His nature to Moses, describing Himself as merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love. These characteristics are what we should reflect in our relationships with others, especially in close partnerships. Whether we’re leading a group, working with teammates, or in a romantic relationship, embracing God’s character in how we treat others will deepen our connections and help us navigate challenges with grace and humility.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Value of Relationships: What qualities do you value most in your friendships and relationships? How do you think God’s favor shapes your connections with others?

2. God’s Presence: When was the last time you felt unsure about something you had to do? How can you remember that God is with you, just like He was with Moses?

3. Reflecting God’s Character: How can you be more merciful, gracious, and slow to anger in your relationships? What would it look like to show God’s love in your daily interactions?

BOTTOM LINE
