“He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord. Why should a fool have money in his hand to buy wisdom when he has no sense?” — Proverbs 17:15-16

“And Moses said to the people, ‘Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” — Exodus 14:13-14

“The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” — Exodus 15:2

Have you ever been in a situation where something seemed totally unfair, and you wondered why the wrong person was being praised—or why someone who did the right thing got punished? That’s what Proverbs 17:15 talks about. God cares deeply about justice. But when the world seems upside down, how do we respond?

In Exodus 14, the Israelites faced what looked like a hopeless situation: trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army. But Moses told them to “stand firm.” Why? Because God was about to show them He was still in control. He split the sea, led them through it, and crushed their enemies. Their response in Exodus 15? A full-on worship session, praising God for being their strength and salvation.

It’s easy to want to fix injustice ourselves, to speak out in frustration, or to question if God even notices. But these passages remind us that even when we can’t see how things will work out, God is still fighting for us. Sometimes, we just need to be still—and trust.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. God Sees Injustice: What’s a situation in your life or in the world that feels unfair? Do you believe God sees it and cares?

2. Trust Before You Understand: The Israelites didn’t know God would part the sea—they just had to trust. Is there something you need to trust God with right now before you know the outcome?

3. Don’t Waste Wisdom: Proverbs 17:16 warns against chasing wisdom without actually wanting to learn. Are you seeking God’s truth with a teachable heart?

BOTTOM LINE

Even when life feels unfair or scary, God is in control—and He fights for those who trust Him.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, sometimes things feel so unfair, and I don’t understand what You’re doing. Help me to stand firm and trust You, even when I can’t see the way forward. Teach me to seek true wisdom and to be still, knowing that You’re working behind the scenes. You are my strength and my salvation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
