“Whoever sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off his own feet and drinks violence. Like a lame man's legs, which hang useless, is a proverb in the mouth of fools.” — Proverbs 26:6–7

“So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, ‘Behold the man!’ … When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” — John 19:5, 30

Let’s be real—sometimes it feels like the world is full of noise. Opinions flying around, people talking big but saying little. Proverbs warns us that wisdom in the wrong hands is useless—it’s like giving deep truth to someone who’s not ready to live it (Proverbs 26:6–7).

On the flip side, we see Jesus in John 19, silent in the face of injustice, but full of strength. He didn’t just talk about love—He proved it by giving His life. Jesus shows us what true wisdom and sacrifice look like. Not flashy. Not foolish. But powerful, even when it hurts.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Words Matter: Have you ever said something that sounded wise, but you weren’t really living it out? Proverbs reminds us that wisdom without action is empty. Ask yourself: Do my actions back up my words?

2. Behold the Man: In John 19:5, Pilate says, “Behold the man.” Take a moment to really look at Jesus—beaten, mocked, crowned with thorns. What does His suffering say about His love for you?

3. Finished, Not Failed: Jesus’ last words, “It is finished,” weren’t words of defeat—they were a declaration of victory. Everything needed for your forgiveness and future was completed at the cross. How does that change the way you see your mistakes or struggles?

BOTTOM LINE

Real wisdom isn’t just about saying the right thing—it’s about living like Jesus, who showed the ultimate wisdom through His love and sacrifice.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me live with real wisdom—the kind that looks like Jesus. Teach me not just to speak truth, but to walk it out in love, even when it’s hard. Thank You for finishing the work on the cross so I can walk in freedom. Help me reflect Your heart today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
