“The sluggard says, ‘There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!’ As a door turns on its hinges, so does a sluggard on his bed.” — Proverbs 26:13–14
“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” — Revelation 4:8
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” — Revelation 5:9

Have you ever made up an excuse just to stay in bed a little longer? Maybe it wasn’t a “lion in the street,” but it might’ve been something like, “I’m too tired,” “It’s just one class,” or “I’ll do that later.” In Proverbs 26, we meet a sluggard—someone so full of excuses that they let opportunities pass them by.
Fast forward to Revelation 4 and 5, and we get a glimpse of something mind-blowingly opposite: heaven bursting with worship, honor, and purpose. No hesitation, no excuses—just praise for a Savior who gave everything. These passages together challenge us: are we snoozing through our lives, or are we awake to the glory of God?

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Excuses vs. Purpose: What “lions” have you imagined that keep you from doing what matters? How can you trade excuses for action?
2. Wake Up to Worship: The scenes in Revelation show non-stop worship and awe in heaven. How can you bring some of that same heart of worship into your daily routine?
3. What Do You Think Jesus Is Worth? The Lamb who was slain is declared “worthy” because He gave His life for us. What would it look like if your everyday choices reflected His worth?

BOTTOM LINE
Don’t sleep through your calling. Wake up to the beauty of worship and the worth of Jesus—and live like He matters.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me recognize when I’m making excuses and choosing comfort over calling. Open my eyes to Your worth, and stir my heart to respond with passion, not laziness. Let my life reflect the worship You deserve. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
