“Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a faithful messenger to those who send him, he refreshes the soul of his masters. Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of a gift he does not give.” — Proverbs 25:13–14
“So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, ‘You know me, and you know where I come from. But I have not come of my own accord. He who sent me is true, and him you do not know. I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me.’” — John 7:28–29

Have you ever had someone totally let you down—like a friend who promised to help but ghosted when it really mattered? That kind of disappointment sticks with you. Proverbs talks about this when it describes someone who boasts but doesn’t deliver (Proverbs 25:14). On the flip side, there’s something powerful and refreshing about someone who shows up, does what they say, and stays true—even when it’s tough.
That’s exactly what Jesus did in John 7. Even with people questioning Him and pressure rising, He stayed focused on His mission and trusted God. He didn’t boast or try to impress; He simply lived the truth.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. Faithfulness Refreshes: Are you the kind of friend who follows through? Like a cold drink on a hot day, your reliability can actually encourage and lift up those around you.
2. Don’t Fake the Rain: Proverbs warns about pretending to be something you’re not. What are you tempted to boast about to seem important or cool? What would it look like to just be honest and real instead?
3. Jesus Under Pressure: Even when people doubted or misunderstood Him, Jesus didn’t cave. What’s one way you can stand strong in your faith, even when others don’t get it?

BOTTOM LINE
Being faithful—whether to a friend, a promise, or your relationship with God—is rare and powerful. Jesus shows us what it looks like to stay true under pressure. Let your actions speak louder than words.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, Help me to be someone who is faithful and real. Teach me to follow through on my word, to be honest about who I am, and to trust You even when things get hard. I want to live like Jesus—bold, truthful, and focused on You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
