“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.” — Proverbs 23:24–25
“Take a census of all the congregation of the people of Israel, by clans, by fathers' houses, according to the number of names, every male, head by head.” — Numbers 1:2
“The people of Israel shall camp each by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers' houses.” — Numbers 2:2

Have you ever felt like just another face in the crowd? Like you're one of many, and your voice doesn't really stand out? In Numbers 1, God tells Moses to take a census—not because He needed the numbers, but because every person mattered. Each name was known. Each tribe had a place.
And in Proverbs 23, we see the heart of a parent beaming with joy over a child who walks in wisdom. God is like that too. He delights in seeing you choose what’s right, and He celebrates you as uniquely His. You’re not just a name on a list—you’re deeply known and deeply loved.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. You Matter to God: In a world of billions, God sees you. Like the Israelites counted one by one, God never loses track of you. How does it change the way you see yourself, knowing that God knows your name?
2. Your Choices Impact Others: Proverbs reminds us that wise living brings joy, not just to us, but to those who care about us. Have you ever made a choice that made someone proud? How can you walk in wisdom today?
3. You Belong: Each tribe had a banner and a place to camp. God gave His people both identity and community. Who are the people God has placed around you to support you—and how can you be that for others?
