“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.” — Proverbs 23:24–25

“But the Levites were not listed along with them by their ancestral tribe. For the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Only the tribe of Levi you shall not list, and you shall not take a census of them among the people of Israel.’” — Numbers 3:47–49

“They shall guard all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and keep guard over the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle.” — Numbers 3:8

Everyone wants to make someone proud—whether it’s your parents, a mentor, or even just your younger sibling. In Proverbs 23:24–25, we see the deep joy that a parent feels when their child chooses wisdom and righteousness. It’s the kind of joy that isn’t just a momentary smile, but a lasting satisfaction.

In Numbers 3–4, we see God giving specific responsibilities to the Levites—not just busywork, but meaningful roles that helped preserve the holiness of the tabernacle. They were set apart for something special, and their faithfulness made a difference. Just like the Levites, you have a calling. It may not be guarding a sacred tent, but it is about living your life in a way that honors God and brings joy to those who love you.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Living for Joy: What does it look like in your life to bring joy to those who care about you—not by trying to impress them, but by choosing what's right even when it's hard?

2. You Have a Role: Just like the Levites had a special role in serving God, you have a role too. What are some ways you can serve God with your unique gifts, whether it’s at church, school, or with your friends?

3. Making It Count: The Levites didn’t have flashy jobs—they set up tents and carried furniture—but their faithfulness mattered. How can you be faithful in the small things today?

BOTTOM LINE

Living wisely and faithfully brings joy—not just to the people around you, but to the heart of God. Every choice you make matters, even the small ones.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a purpose and for placing people in my life who care about me. Help me live in a way that brings joy to them and honors You. Show me how to be faithful in the little things and give me courage to live wisely, even when it’s hard. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
