“Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth. Whoever plans to do evil will be called a schemer. The devising of folly is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to mankind.” — Proverbs 24:7–9

“We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” — Numbers 13:31

“But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went.” — Numbers 14:24

Have you ever wanted to try something new or bold—try out for a team, speak up for someone, or even share your faith—but then fear totally took over? In Numbers 13–14, God’s people stood on the edge of the land He promised them. But instead of stepping in with courage, most of them freaked out. They saw the giants instead of God’s promise. Only Joshua and Caleb held on to faith.

In Proverbs 24, we’re reminded that foolishness and fear often come from ignoring God’s wisdom. Caleb wasn’t stronger than the others—he just trusted God more. What about you?

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Fear or Faith? Are you listening more to your fears or to God’s promises? What "giants" in your life seem bigger than God right now?

2. The Company You Keep: The other spies spread fear, and the whole crowd followed. Who are the voices you let influence you most—friends, social media, or God's truth?

3. Be Like Caleb: Caleb had a “different spirit.” What does it look like for you to follow God fully even when others don’t?

BOTTOM LINE

Faith doesn’t ignore fear—it just trusts God more than it listens to fear. Be the one who chooses faith even when it’s unpopular or uncomfortable.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me that faith is stronger than fear. Help me to be like Caleb and trust You fully, even when the world feels scary or uncertain. Give me courage to follow You when others don’t. Let my faith in You be louder than any fear in me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
