“My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” — Proverbs 24:13–14
“And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.’” — Numbers 20:12
“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.’” — Numbers 21:8

Wisdom is sweet like honey. That sounds nice and cozy—until we realize that learning wisdom often happens in hard, uncomfortable situations. In Proverbs 24, we’re reminded that finding wisdom gives us a future and fills us with hope.
But in Numbers 20–21, we watch as Moses makes a costly mistake by disobeying God. Even someone as faithful as Moses wasn't above consequences. Then in the next chapter, God brings healing through something unexpected—a bronze serpent lifted high for all to see. These chapters remind us that God’s wisdom leads to life, even in our biggest mess-ups. The path might sting like a snake bite, but healing and hope are still possible when we look to Him.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. What’s Your Honey? What are some "sweet" things you turn to for comfort or satisfaction? Do they actually fill your soul—or just your cravings?
2. Even Leaders Fail: Moses lost his chance to enter the Promised Land because of one act of disobedience. What does this teach you about taking God seriously, even when others are watching you?
3. Look Up to Live: When the Israelites were bitten by snakes, their healing came from looking up at the bronze serpent. How does this foreshadow Jesus? Are there areas in your life where you need to "look up" for healing?

BOTTOM LINE
Wisdom may come through failure, but God's grace still leads us toward hope, healing, and a future.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for being patient with us, even when we mess up. Help us to learn wisdom through Your Word and through the tough lessons of life. Teach us to trust You fully, to take You seriously, and to always look to You for healing and hope. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
