“My son, fear the Lord and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise, for disaster will arise suddenly from them, and who knows the ruin that will come from them both?” — Proverbs 24:21-22

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” — Psalm 111:10

“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.” — Numbers 32:23

It’s not always easy to do the right thing—especially when it feels like everyone around you is doing the opposite. Peer pressure is real. Whether it’s gossip, cheating, or just going along with the crowd, the temptation to blend in can be strong. But Proverbs 24:21-22 gives us a strong reminder: following God and honoring authority is the wise and safe path, even when others rebel.

In Psalm 111, we’re reminded that real wisdom begins with respecting God. And in Numbers 32, we see that even when people think they can make their own plans, ignoring God’s commands always comes with consequences.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Fear God First: Who are you listening to more—God, or the people around you? Respect for God isn't about being scared; it's about trusting His way above all others.

2. Wisdom in Action: Psalm 111 says those who “practice” the fear of the Lord have understanding. Are your daily choices showing that you want to live wisely?

3. Choices Have Consequences: In Numbers 32, the tribes who wanted to settle outside the promised land had to promise to still fight with the rest of Israel. Moses reminded them that if they didn’t, their sin would catch up with them. What choices are you making now that could affect your future?

BOTTOM LINE

Living wisely means respecting God first, even when the world shouts something different. God sees your heart, your choices, and your loyalty. Choosing His way is always worth it.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me what it means to live wisely. Help me not to follow the crowd, but to follow You. Give me courage to make the right choices, even when it’s hard. I want my life to reflect Your wisdom and truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
