Seven of Cups

Welcome to season 9 of this podcast, where I am talking all about the Suit of Cups. I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.

What we explore in this episode:

In this episode, we explore the dreamy and often disorienting world of the Seven of Cups, a card filled with possibility, illusion, and emotional overwhelm. This is the card of too many choices and not enough clarity. It paints a picture of a moment filled with visions and temptation—some beautiful, others deceptive. When we are offered too many cups at once, how do we know which one to drink from?

This card teaches us that not every shining thing is for us. We’re invited to pause, sift through our options with clarity, and ask what we’re truly longing for. It also reminds us that dreams require grounded action—wishing alone isn’t enough.

Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Citadel: A Fantasy Oracleby Fen Inkwright, I pulled The Merchant (reversed)—a figure tied to negotiation, reciprocity, and energy exchange. In its reversed position, it warns of people or obligations that take without giving, draining your reserves while offering little in return.

This is a clear echo of the Seven of Cups: not all offers are generous. Not all opportunities are true. You are allowed to walk away from what demands more than it gives.
