The NAWIC Diversity & Inclusion Portfolio exists to break down barriers, create opportunities and raise awareness for the least represented in our community and for those who don't always feel part of the 'everybody'. As part of of platforming, listening to understand and advocating for these voices we intend to share the stories, achievements, challenges and insights of those who don't typically put themselves in the spotlight- and should! Introducing 'NAWIC Couch'. We are piloting a new way of storytelling where our host Rachael Sharp invites you into the room for gritty, relevant and real conversations with people within our community who are underrepresented, face particularly high barriers to entry and success or are commonly misunderstood and doing incredible things. "I never knew there would be space for people like myself" - Please welcome our guest Lisa Erlandson, a proud young Arrernte and Kaytetye project services trainee. Lisa is passionate about helping others around her, showing, and letting people know they can achieve anything they put their mind to, she wants people to be inspired and to go hard and take chances. Lisa wants to tell the younger generation that education is the key not just in the western educational system but also cultural education especially for Indigenous people. She wants people who identify as both Indigenous and non Indigenous to educate themselves on the strong, rich and unique culture that dates to 65,000 years ago.
