The wall has been built. Pink has the isolation he's been building toward his whole life. In his isolation, his hatred and fear of humanity continues to grow, and his delusional self becomes a musical Hitler of sorts, even calling for a "final solution" to deal with all those that are different than him. But even Pink eventually grows tired of his Hitler alter ego and starts to turn his accusations inward, and a trial ensues... In the second half of "The Wall," we follow his descent into madness (madness??) as he finally faces his worst fear: himself. With some of the most dynamic musical numbers in Pink Floyd history, from your standard 80s synth to roaring Gilmour solos to Disney-esque musical numbers, this album has everything. Whether you enjoy it or not, "The Wall" has become a cultural reference point for all concept albums and rock operas since. Ironically, the weight of "The Wall" was too much for the band itself to handle. As the wall came down in the album, walls were being put up between bandmates, and by "The Final Cut" they were fully built. But for now, join us outside the wall, as Brad LeBaron, David Gallagher, Jon Acker, Scott Westley, and returning guest Jake "the Snake" Foster (host of "Under the Covers") face the madness (1:42:55) together...
