What do a church elder, Ashley Madison, and the dark web have to do with the murder of Amy Allwine, a well-loved dog trainer, active church member, and wife and mother in Cottage Grove, Minnesota? Well, it’s always the husband, and Stephen Allwine wanted his wife of nearly two decades dead. When hiring a hitman was a bust, and sending threatening emails didn’t have the desired result, Stephen realized he would have to be the one to kill his wife. After the murder, he was confident he had committed the perfect crime, but dogged investigators would piece together the evidence that showed Stephen wasn’t nearly as smart as he thought he was.
