The entire earth is being ravaged by the years of famine.
Yaakov dispatches all of his sons besides Binyamin to go down to Egypt to get food.
The brothers meet Yosef and immediately bow down to him. However, they don’t recognize him.
Instead of revealing himself to them, Yosef accuses them of being spies, and demands that they bring down their brother Binyamin in order to prove their innocence.
Q: What on earth is Yosef doing? Why is he playing games with them? Moreover, doesn’t he realize the pain he will cause his father if they take Binyamin away from him?
