"As if!"
Today’s episode looks at two versions of a Jane Austen story. These are only 2 of the nearly 10 versions of the story that have appeared on the small screen, silver screen, and on stage in musicals. Emma is a story that survives the test of time, proving that being a busybody matchmaker is something that’s still relatable.
Today I have a special guest who is one of the worker bees helping a film set run smoothly. Dorothy McConnell has worked as a set PA and an Office PA in Atlanta film productions, and has gotten the chance to work with a few of her favorite heroes.
Emma (1996):
Emma is a mischievous beauty who sets up her single friends, making a hilariously tangled mess of their lives until she herself falls in love. Gwyneth Paltrow stars in this beloved adaptation of Jane Austen's novel.
Clueless (1995):
Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other.

On each episode we’ll look at a movie and its remake, or sometimes a movie and its sequel, to determine if Hollywood rehashed it for a reason or for a cash grab.
