“Weapons” got a lot of attention from critics and the viewing public. Horror films tend to not get a lot of awards recognition; this one got an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. This film did a great job of building an atmosphere and setting up tension, with a satisfying payoff. Unlike a lot of other horror movies, it doesn’t seem like an excuse to set up a franchise (though I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened).
