Episode 37: Doug is gearing up for his next trip to Europe. Alas, we won’t be able to get a ground level view of the chaos in France, which is spinning as they churn through prime ministers, because the destination is Bergen, then on to Sofia, and Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
Hazel English has a nice, new dreamy pop song out: Calgary.
Hatchie dropped the second single from her highly-anticipated album, “Liquorish.” There will be a third single coming out on the day the album is released (November 7th, but it should already be marked on your calendar). The video and song: Only One Laughing. (Note, our robot overlords censored where I said 6/8 time for some reason.)
Nicolas Cage continues to crank out movies. “Pig” came out in 2021 to much acclaim but I just now had the chance to see it. What powerful emotions is he just barely holding back in this one? Anger, sadness, regerts. Set in Portland, so it would be fun to watch just for that, but I think this is a thoughtful and well-composed adaptation of the Orpheus and Eurydice story.
