Description

Acts 15 in the New International Version of the Bible recounts a pivotal meeting known as the Council of Jerusalem. This council addressed a significant disagreement regarding whether Gentile converts needed to adhere to Jewish customs, specifically circumcision, for salvation. After considerable discussion and the testimonies of Peter, Paul, and Barnabas about God's work among the Gentiles, James proposed a resolution. The council concluded that Gentile believers did not need to be circumcised but should abstain from certain practices. Their decision was communicated through a letter carried by chosen representatives to the Gentile churches, bringing them encouragement and resolving the initial conflict.
