Description

This passage from the Gospel of John, chapter 18, recounts the arrest of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane following his prayer. Judas leads soldiers and officials to betray him, and upon Jesus identifying himself, they fall back. Jesus instructs them to let his disciples go free, fulfilling a prophecy. The narrative then shifts to Peter's denial of knowing Jesus while he warms himself by a fire in the high priest's courtyard, coinciding with Jesus being questioned by Annas and then sent to Caiaphas. Finally, Jesus is taken before Pilate, the Roman governor, where questions about his kingship arise, and Pilate ultimately finds no basis for charges against him.
