He assures them that they will have a place in his kingdom . Jesus warns Simon Peter that Satan wants to sift them like wheat, but Jesus has prayed for him and tells him that after he has turned back, he must strengthen his brothers . Peter confidently declares his readiness to go to prison and death with Jesus, but Jesus predicts that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows .Jesus instructs his disciples about the changing circumstances they will face and then goes to the Mount of Olives to pray, where he experiences great anguish . Returning to his disciples, he finds them sleeping and urges them to pray so that they will not fall into temptation . Judas arrives with a crowd and betrays Jesus with a kiss, leading to Jesus' arrest . When his followers try to defend him, Jesus stops them and heals a servant's ear that was cut off . Jesus questions the authorities for coming with swords and clubs .After his arrest, Peter follows Jesus to the high priest's house and, when questioned, denies knowing him three times, just as Jesus had predicted . The guards mock and beat Jesus . At daybreak, Jesus is brought before the council of elders, chief priests, and teachers of the law, where they question him about being the Messiah and the Son of God. Jesus acknowledges that he is, leading them to conclude that they need no further testimony .
