Christmas marks the beginning of humanity's reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. When angels announced peace on earth, they weren't speaking of peace between people, but peace between God and mankind. Sin had created an insurmountable barrier, making us enemies of God. The baby in the manger was God's solution—the sacrificial Lamb who would bridge this gap through His eventual sacrifice on the cross. On Calvary, Jesus became sin for us, experiencing separation from the Father so we could have complete acceptance and access to God's presence. This covenant of reconciliation is unchangeable, based solely on Christ's performance, not our own.
