Many believers struggle with their relationship with God because they misunderstand righteousness as something they must earn through actions. However, righteousness is simply having the right standing before God, which comes through Christ's finished work, not our performance. When we accept Jesus as Lord, we become new creations with His righteous nature through what can be called the great exchange - Jesus became sin so we could become the righteousness of God. The barriers we feel between ourselves and God aren't created by His rejection, but by allowing worldly distractions to cloud our souls. God chose us to be righteous before the world was created, demonstrating His unconditional love and acceptance. Understanding this truth transforms our entire relationship with God and sets us free to walk in fellowship with Him.
