Anthropic has introduced Claude Cowork, a new research preview designed to bring autonomous agent capabilities to general desktop productivity.
Unlike standard chat interfaces, this tool can directly access local files, manage complex multi-step projects, and even schedule recurring automated tasks.
It is currently available on the Claude Desktop app for users on paid subscription tiers, including Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans. Users can leverage specialized plugins and connectors to help Claude organize folders, generate professional slide decks, or synthesize research across various platforms.
While the system operates in a secure virtual environment, it requires explicit user permission before modifying files to ensure safety and control.
