Description

Bonus episode in English. Season 2 launches in a few weeks!

In this bonus episode, we turn away from geography, politics, or history, and ask instead: what is the deeper meaning of the Land of Israel? Why couldn’t Zionism be realized in Uganda, but only here? To explore these questions, I speak with Elliot Wolfson, one of the foremost scholars of Kabbalah. Together, we discuss zimzum (divine contraction), the breaking of the vessels, and the mystical, even messianic, significance of the land—both in Jewish tradition and in messianic strands of religious Zionism today.
