Today’s reading is one of the most dramatic and sobering in the Bible. Jehu is anointed as king with a divine mission to bring judgment on Ahab’s family and all who enabled Jezebel’s evil. He moves with ruthless obedience, fulfilling prophecy down to the last dog’s lick of blood. But even in his zeal, Jehu stops short of full surrender—he obeys when it’s public and powerful but refuses a heart of daily devotion. Through this, we’re reminded that God seeks not just acts of obedience, but hearts fully His.
