Day 110 | 2 Samuel 2:1–3:5; 1 Chronicles 3:1-4a; 2 Samuel 23:8-17; 1 Chronicles 11:10-19; 2 Samuel 23:18-39; 1 Chronicles 11:20-47
David finally steps into his long-awaited role as king—but not without first seeking the Lord's direction. Rather than rushing into power, David asks God where to go, modeling humility and obedience. He’s made king over Judah, but the rest of Israel follows Saul’s son Ishbosheth, sparking a civil war. Through this tension, we see David grow stronger while Saul’s house weakens. We’re also introduced to David’s mighty men—loyal, valiant warriors who stood beside him in battle and character. This passage reminds us of the power of seeking God in decisions, the danger of pride and insecurity, and the importance of surrounding ourselves with godly companions for the battles of life.
