Day 252 | Ezra 2:1–4:5; 1 Chronicles 3:19b-24
Nearly 50,000 exiles return to Jerusalem, carefully proving their genealogy before resuming priestly service. In fear of local residents, the people rebuild the altar and offer sacrifices to the Lord, determined not to repeat the sins that led to exile. They celebrate the Festival of Shelters, reminding themselves of God’s provision, and then lay the foundation of the temple. With mixed emotions, young and old alike declare, “He is good; His faithful love endures forever,” choosing to prioritize God’s presence above all else.
