Description

In this episode of Daily Devotionals for Nurses, Tola continues our study in Judges 6, focusing on Gideon’s encounter with the angel of the Lord. Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress. He was working in an unexpected place during a time of oppression when the angel appeared and called him a “mighty man of valor.”

Tola points out that the angel didn’t address Gideon by his current situation or limitations. He didn’t call him “a man hiding from the Midianites” or “an oppressed Israelite.” Instead, he spoke to Gideon’s God-given identity and destiny. This was both a declaration of truth and a prophetic word about who Gideon already was in God’s eyes.

The same is true for us. Our present circumstances, challenges, or feelings do not define who we are. Whether you’re facing obstacles in leadership, waiting for a breakthrough, or navigating a difficult season, God’s Word has already named and defined you. You are who He says you are, no matter what you see in the natural.

Tola encourages listeners to speak God’s truth over themselves daily, using Scripture as both affirmation and prophecy. Passages like Psalm 8:5, which says we are crowned with glory and honor, remind us of our royal identity in Christ. When you know who you are, you won’t exchange your crown for anything less than God’s best.

Key Scriptures: Judges 6:12, Psalm 8:5, Psalm 103
