Description

In this episode of Daily Devotionals for Nurses, Tola continues the powerful walk through Judges 6, focusing on Gideon’s initial conversation with the angel of the Lord. When Gideon hears the words, “The Lord is with you, mighty man of valor,” his immediate response is honest and raw: “If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened?”

This moment gives voice to a question many believers silently carry: Where is God in the hardship? Where are the miracles we’ve heard about?

Tola invites us to explore what it means to come to God not with a rehearsed performance, but with true, heartfelt honesty. Just as Gideon didn’t sugarcoat his pain or questions, we too are invited to approach God as a loving Father. We can bring our hurts, doubts, and frustrations into real conversation with Him.

Key Scripture
Judges 6:12–13
“The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor… If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?”

Call Yourself What God Calls You
Do not allow your situation to define you. Like Gideon, choose to speak God’s word over your life: faithful, fruitful, crowned with glory, and deeply loved.

Approaching God Honestly
Gideon’s courage to question did not disqualify him. This episode teaches that honesty is not rebellion, it is relationship.

The Weight of Consequences
Sometimes we are living in the consequences of a broader context. It may not be your fault, but God still sees you and calls you by name.

Let Go of Pretend Honor
Some believers avoid real honesty with God in the name of reverence. But false humility and emotional suppression will not heal your heart. Real healing starts when you say, “God, I don’t understand. Help me.”

God Can Handle Your Questions
Whether you are serving God in the middle of broken systems or carrying the weight of unanswered prayers, you can bring it all to Him. He is not offended by your need for answers. He is your Father.

God is not intimidated by your honesty. Like Gideon, your questions will not disqualify you from being used. They might just be the beginning of your calling.
