‘Sanskriti’ is very commonly translated to English as ‘Culture’. ‘Culture’ denotes a purely descriptive concept and describes the patterns of behaviour of a particular human society without going into its merits. Any random practice regularly followed by a group of people can be labelled as their culture. There could be ‘Mafia Culture’ or a ‘Culture of Corruption’. Sanskriti, on the other hand, is a prescriptive concept and it prescribes a way intuitively seen by the ancient Indian rishis which leads to the spiritual upliftment of an individual and the society. This video discusses why it is essential to stop mixing the concept of culture with that of sanskriti and why it is wiser to adhere to the original Sanskrit word \'Sanskriti\' even in English.
