This week on Books and Butterbeer, we’re diving into Chapter 10: The Rogue Bludger. Our game is “Remedy or Rubbish,” where we try to decide which medications are real and which ones are totally fake. In this chapter, we see just how far Lockhart’s vanity goes — from handing out signed detention slips to happily giving Hermione his autograph (and calling her the “most brilliant witch of her age”). Meanwhile, Gryffindor faces off in another intense Quidditch match, only this time a rogue Bludger seems determined to take Harry out of the game. Harry still manages to catch the Snitch, but not before the Bludger shatters his arm — and Lockhart’s disastrous “healing” spell leaves him boneless. We dig into the gross but fascinating Skel-Gro potion, and finally learn the truth: Dobby has been behind all of Harry’s mishaps, desperately trying to keep him away from Hogwarts.
