Stepping Into the Light — The UAH Out of the Darkness Walk with Miguel Cortes
In this episode of Behind the Bib, I sat down with Miguel Cortes, Fitness and Group Exercise Coordinator at UAH and Committee Walk Chair for the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. We talked about the importance of suicide prevention, the power of community, and how events like this walk can create space for healing, awareness, and hope.
Miguel shared how UAH got involved, what this year’s walk will look like, and why these conversations around mental health matter so much — especially for students. We also talked about how anyone can get involved, whether it’s walking, donating, volunteering, or simply showing up to support.
This conversation meant a lot to me. If you or someone you love is struggling, please know you’re not alone. You can call or text 988 anytime for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. There is help. There is hope. Let's bring these conversations out of the darkness.
