~ Half of languages don’t have a word “がんばる”~
ポッドキャストを聞いていて知ったのですが、
世界の言語の半分には「がんばる」という言葉がないそうです。
その方が、とある国の方と仕事をしていて、
「締め切りに間に合うように、頑張ってください」と通訳の方に伝えたとき、
「がんばるという言葉はないから訳せない」と言われたそうです。
皆さんの言語には、「がんばる」に似た言葉がありますか？
ぽっどきゃすとを きいていて しったのですが、
せかいの げんごの はんぶんには「がんばる」という ことばが ないそうです。
その かたが、とある くにの かたと しごとを していて、
「しめきりに まにあうように、がんばってください」と つうやくの
かたにつたえたとき、「がんばる という ことばは ないから
やくせない」といわれたそうです。
みなさんの げんごには、「がんばる」に にた ことばが ありますか？
I learned this while listening to a podcast:
Apparently, half the world's languages don't have a word
for “gambaru” (to make an effort).
The host was working with someone from some country
and asked the interpreter to tell them,
“Please do your best to meet the deadline”.
And then the interpreter said“We don't have a word for ‘gambaru,’
so I can't translate it.”
