Most of us have made a stop off the metro's blue and orange lines.

According to Brenda Sultz, curator of the home of General James B. McPherson, the pronunciation isn't what most people believe it to be.

"The saying goes or the slogan is--that there is no fear in McPherson, so therefore we would pronounce it "Mc-Fur-son".

A statue was dedicated to General McPherson on October 18, 1876 for his role in the Union army during the American Civil War.
